About the Role
You will be responsible for supporting general accounting functions, including payroll processing, benefits administration, and maintaining accurate employee records in our HR systems. You will have strong accounting knowledge, payroll experience, discretion and a keen eye for accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and reconciliations.
- Prepare and post journal entries, and reconcile bank, credit card, and daily ticket sales.
- Process biweekly payroll with accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain payroll records, process ROEs, T4s, and ensure timely remittance of deductions.
- Resolve payroll inquiries and stay updated on legislation.
- Manage employee benefits programs (enrolments, changes, terminations).
- Coordinate with benefits providers and assist employees with claims.
- Ensure accurate payroll deductions for benefits.
- Maintain employee records in HR/payroll systems.
- Track employee changes like hires, promotions, terminations, and leaves.
- Ensure compliance with record-keeping policies and generate reports for management.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in accounting, payroll administration, and employee record management.
- PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) certification is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, payroll software, HRIS systems, and accounting software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high accuracy in data entry.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with employees and external partners.
- Strong ethics and ability to handle sensitive financial and employee information.
