What will you be doing?
You will play a pivotal role in transforming complex customer and business data into clear, actionable insights that drive operational efficiency and support strategic decision-making. You will work closely with the Lottery Retailing business, particularly the Operations, Customer Success, and Corporate Services teams, to understand their data needs and deliver tailored analytical solutions.
You will build and maintain data models using dbt (data build tool), collaborate with cross-functional teams to address reporting requests, and become the primary data contact for the Operations team.
What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like
Learn and understand the data and operational workflows of our platform to provide accurate and timely insights.
Build and update data models using dbt to support business reporting and analysis.
Collaborate closely with Operations, Finance, Marketing, Lottery Solutions, and Customer Success teams to gather and clarify reporting requirements.
Serve as the primary point of contact for the Operations team regarding data-related questions and requests.
Analyse large volumes of transactional and customer data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
Deliver actionable insights and recommendations that drive operational efficiency and support strategic decision-making.
Work independently on data projects while maintaining strong communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Automate recurring reporting processes to reduce manual effort and improve data accessibility.
Perform ad hoc analysis to answer business questions and support operational decisions.
Design, develop, and maintain dashboards and reports in Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics tools tailored to stakeholder needs.
Continuously seek ways to simplify data access and usability for business users, enhancing overall data literacy.
What You’ll Be Able to Bring to the Role
Strong proficiency in SQL with proven experience working on complex data sets
Excellent interpersonal skills, comfortable collaborating directly with business teams to understand and address their data needs
Demonstrated ability to deliver clear, actionable insights that support decision-making and drive business outcomes
Experience handling large volumes of transactional and customer data with attention to detail and accuracy
Curiosity and problem-solving mindset, with a passion for exploring data to uncover opportunities and efficiencies
Ability to work independently while maintaining effective collaboration within a dynamic, evolving team environment
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and ways of working as the team and business grow
Nice to have: hands-on experience with dbt or other ETL tools, familiarity with BI platforms such as Power BI, Looker, or Tableau
Strong proficiency in Python programming and knowledge of data science techniques
Experience working in cloud data environments like Snowflake or Databricks is advantageous.
Experience documenting metrics and dashboards in clear, concise language so stakeholders can easily understand reports.
Understanding of data governance principles and experience validating and reconciling datasets for reporting and analysis
Salary Banding: $90,000 - A$125,000 + Super
