Oz Lotteries exists to give everyday Aussies more chances to dream and win. We're one of Australia's longest-running online lottery retailers, operating since 2005, and we're proudly Aussie-owned and operated. As part of Jumbo Interactive, listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX: JIN), we've built a strong, loyal player base on a platform they trust, offering both popular commercial lotteries like Powerball and Oz Lotto and charity lotteries, a combination that's always set us apart.
We're still growing, still evolving, and still finding better ways to do things, which means you'll do your best work here if you're comfortable with ambiguity, think laterally, take real ownership of your work, and adapt well to change.
What will you be doing?
You'll help strengthen how compliance and assurance operate as the business grows and matures by taking ownership of moving the team beyond documented registers and obligations into a more robust assurance-led approach, building confidence that controls are operating effectively, and ensuring the business can evidence compliance with contractual requirements and other obligations. You'll directly manage two team members and combine day-to-day compliance operations with regulatory interpretation and practical advice to support the business while enabling growth.
Working across operational, commercial and technology-facing activities, you'll partner with teams across the business to understand how work happens in practice. This role suits someone comfortable joining an environment where a lot has already been built, with meaningful work still to do in embedding assurance, capturing insights, and helping compliance support the business in a practical, commercially aware way.
What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like
Build and evolve the assurance program, testing whether documented controls operate effectively in practice and reviewing registers to identify what should be tested.
Own and maintain the obligations registers across all relevant regulatory, legislative, contractual and business frameworks, ensuring they are current and accurately described
Support ongoing compliance with reseller agreements and broader business obligations through monitoring, review and follow-up activities.
Provide practical compliance advice on ad hoc questions and manage recurring compliance activities such as monthly reporting, compliance reviews and stakeholder meetings.
Partner with teams from legal, technology, operations, customer support and marketing to understand processes, upcoming changes and compliance impacts, and contribute to change discussions
Monitor the regulatory environment for changes relevant to Oz Lotteries and provide timely assessments of their operational impact on the business.
Oversee lottery operations compliance activities, including draw management, permit drafting and submission, winner selection, customer validation, prize distribution, and charity lottery and trade promotion configuration, ensuring regulatory obligations and agreed timeframes are met
Own the day-to-day management of live GRC (Governance, Risk and Compliance) tooling, driving adoption across Oz Lotteries and leveraging technology to continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of governance, risk and compliance workflows.
What You’ll Be Able to Bring to the Role
Experience in compliance, assurance, risk or a related operational control environment
Ability to work through ambiguity, take initiative and operate effectively with sound judgement and a commercially aware approach to balancing compliance requirements with business realities
Strong stakeholder and communication skills, with the confidence to engage across different functions and explain compliance concepts clearly to non-specialist stakeholders
Demonstrated experience working within GRC (Governance, Risk and Compliance) platform environments, including driving adoption across multiple functions.
Experience working with varied business technology platforms, with the ability to identify how existing systems and data can be leveraged to support compliance monitoring, reporting, and evidence gathering.
Ability to analyse information, interpret data and recognise patterns, with a proactive approach to improving processes and capturing information for better decision-making, plus an organised and self-directed working style
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply Commonwealth and state legislation at an operational level, including consumer protection, privacy, and communications laws, translating requirements into practical guidance for non-specialist stakeholders
Experience in online gaming, lottery, payments, or another consumer-facing regulated digital environment, plus experience supervising team members
Salary banding: $110,000 - $130,000 + Super
